When you are considering buying home energy products you should receive a quote from the installer stating how the product will perform, how much it will save you from a reduction in energy bills and how much you could earn from government schemes like the Boiler Upgrade Scheme (BUS) or the Green Homes Grant (where applicable). You could also receive longer term projections of how much you could save or earn over many years, e.g. the lifetime of the product(s).
A critical part of your decision making process might be the running costs of the new products.
We check all of these things.
You take it on trust that you will achieve these savings because the explanation can be quite complicated. How can you trust the installer is giving you the correct savings, running costs and government incentives? Or using appropriate inflationary increases? Or has checked that the savings quoted will apply to your individual household needs?
The Energy Performance Validation Scheme (EPVS) is designed to negate this very issue and by using an EPVS member you can feel assured that the installer has gone through a rigorous onboarding process and has satisfied us that its paperwork is clear, understandable and correct.
Our monthly monitoring programme ensures our members are providing consumers with accurate performance estimates and monetary savings and that these have been communicated clearly to help you with your buying decision.
